John Mahn - Owner
Originally from Plainview, Minnesota, John Mahn graduated from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program in 1982. He worked at the Bodelson Funeral Home and in 1986 he and his wife, Susan, bought the business. Together they have three children, Holly, Joe and Megan.
David Mahn - Funeral Director/ VP
David, his wife, Jennifer and his four children, Elliot, Madeleine, Chrisjon and Sophia live in Lake City, Minnesota, where he oversees the Anderson-Peterson-Mahn Chapel. David attended mortuary school at Worshsam College of Mortuary Science. Since 1991, David has worked in the area. In addition to Lake City Chapel, he can also be found at any of our other chapels.
Susan Dopkins - Funeral Director
Susan Dopkins, a Cashton,Wisconsin native and a graduate of Viroqua High School, she received her mortuary science degree in 1981 from the University of Minnesota. She began working at the Bodelson-Mahn Funeral Home in 1989. She and her husband, Don, live in Red Wing and have two children, Melissa and Geoff. She is a member of First United Methodist Church and past president of Dawnbreakers Kiwanis in Red Wing.
Todd Otteson - Funeral Director/Manager
Todd Otteson, manager at the Bodelson-Mahn Chapel has lived in the Red Wing since November 1993. He was a 1988 graduate of the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program. Originally from Paynesville, Minnesota, Todd and his wife Patty, teacher at Twin Bluff Middle School, have two daughters, Amy and Emily. He is a member of United Lutheran Church, past President of the United Lutheran Church Congregation, and a past president of the Red Wing Lions Club.
Greg Schmitt - Funeral Director
Greg Schmitt, manager of the Larson Chapel in Zumbrota has worked for the Mahn Family since 1997. He and his wife, Karmon have one daughter, Kersten. A native of Mazeppa, Minnesota, he attended the University of Minnesota and received his mortuary science degree in 1987.
Amanda Lohmann - Funeral Director
Amanda Lohmann, a native of Red Wing, has been at the Bodelson-Mahn Chapel since graduating from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program in 1998. Mandy is a member of the Red Wing Rotary Club serving as community relations chairperson.
Don Kietzmann - Funeral Director, CFSP, CCO
Don was born and raised in central South Dakota. He received his Associate Degree in Funeral Service from Milwaukee, WI in 1984 and is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner as well as a Certified Crematory Operator. Don worked for two firms in Watertown, South Dakota before moving to St. Peter, MN in 2000 where he managed Klein Funeral Home. He started working for Mahn Family Funeral Home in Rochester on January 1, 2002 as a funeral director and crematory operator and has now moved to Zumbrota. He has two married children, Jill (Dan), one granddaughter, Emma Marie, and one grandson, Ryan Arthur, of New Brighton, MN and Dr. Paul (Amanda), one grandson, Joshua, and one granddaughter, Joanna, of Alexandria, MN.
Randy Vine - Funeral Director
Randy is a Rochester native and attended the University of Minnesota. Formerly with the Vine Funeral Home, he is a fourth generation funeral director and has served the Rochester area for over 20 years. Randy and his wife Roanna have two children, Marissa and Ajay.
Joe Mahn - Funeral Director
Joe Mahn, is a graduate of Minnesota University, Duluth in 2004 and a 2005 graduate of the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Program. He began his internship on August 15, 2005. Joe became licensed on June 15, 2006 and will reside at the Red Wing Chapel.
Chad Sietsma - Funeral Director
Chad has more than 25 years of experience in funeral service, and has resided in southern Minnesota since 1985. His wife, Christine, is a registered dental hygienist. Chad enjoys traveling, creative writing and golfing with his wife. The Sietsemas have two sons, Benjamin and Phillip and they are members of Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester. Chad joined the Mahn Family Funeral Home in April 2008.
Jack Edwards - Funeral Assistant
Jack has been a funeral assistant for over 20 years. First, for the Johnson Funeral Home in Red Wing and since 1990 with the Mahn Family Funeral Home. A graduate of Central High School in Red Wing, he has resided in Red Wing his entire life. He served as a fulltime firefighter with the Red Wing Fire Department for 31 years, retiring in 1991. He continues to serve on the Relief Association Board of the fire department. His wife is Carmen Heck. They have two children, Mark and Jackie and three grandchildren. He has been active with the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post and is a member of the Church of St. Joseph and the Red Wing Charter Commission. He enjoys fishing and taking his daily walks.
Noel Evans - Funeral Assistant
Noel Evans joined the Mahn Family Funeral Home as a funeral assistant in January of 2002. He grew up in Red Wing, graduated from Red Wing High School and from 1962-1997 had a dental practice in Red Wing. He is married to Alberta Dean and they have three children; Erik, Carrie and Andrew and three grandchildren. He is an active member of United Lutheran Church, Red Wing Lions Club and participates in other community activities. Noel also works part time at the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing.
Keith Dicke - Funeral Assistant
Keith was born in Featherstone Township, Goodhue County and graduated from Goodhue High School. He is married to Carol Siewert and in 1969 they purchased the family farm until 1997 when they moved to Goodhue. Keith is an auctioneer and also worked for Hay Creek Mutual Insurance in Goodhue for a number of years. He has been a funeral assistant for the Mahn Family Funeral Home since January 1999.
Jim Eng - Funeral Assistant
Jim has assisted the Mahn Family Funeral Home since 1996. Jim and his wife Elaine owned and operated the Eng's Funeral Home in Clear Lake, South Dakota until their retirement and moved to Red Wing in 1996. They have three children, Jason of New York City, Pete of Castlewood, South Dakota and Alison Steinbeck of Elko, Minnesota. They have five grandsons. Jim is a graduate of the California School of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles and has been licensed in South Dakota since 1962 and for 36 years in Minnesota.
Mert Kohrs - Funeral Assistant
Mert has been a funeral assistant for the Mahn Family Funeral Home in Lake City since February of 2005. He was born in Lake City, graduated from high school there. For 30 years he and his wife Beverly lived in Pine Island with their two children and he worked for IBM in Rochester. They both retired in 1989 and moved back to Lake City. They have three grandchildren. He is a member of the VFW and American Legion in Lake City and the Lake City Lions Club.
La Vonne Thomforde - Funeral Assistant
LaVonne is a funeral home assistant in Red Wing. She has been employed with the Mahn Family Funeral Home since 1989. Lavonne is from Mountain Lake, Minnesota and has resided in Red Wing since. LaVonne has two children, Kim and Candra. LaVonne is also a hairdresser at the Fairview Seminary Home and Red Wing Health Center. She is member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Wing and is a volunteer with the Mississippi Shuffle.
Marlys Gerken - Funeral Assistant
Marlys is a funeral home assistant at the Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Marlys was married to Harvey Gerken and he died in 1985. She has three children and five grandchildren. She is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City where she is group leader on the funeral receptions. She is also a member of the VFW Auxiliary 8729 as treasurer and volunteers at the Lake City Nursing Home. She enjoys playing cards and traveling.
Merle Mahn - Secretary
Merle Mahn, mother to John and David, lives in Lake City where she assists with the office duties at the Anderson-Peterson chapel.
Barbara Hausken - Secretary
Barbara has been the secretary at the Mahler Chapel in Pine Island since 1998. She and her husband, Reverend Terje live in Pine Island and have two children, Matthew and Katie and one grandson, Leif.
Judy Habedank - Secretary
Judy Habedank has works at the Bodelson-Mahn. She and her husband, Dr. William Habedank live in Red Wing and they have two children, Laura and Brian.
Shirley Fredrickson - Secretary
Shirley began working at the Larson Chapel in Zumbrota in June of 2000. She and her husband, Chuck live in Wanamingo. They have two children, Melissa and Matthew and four grandchildren, Kaleigh, Noah, Emilee and Jared.
Martha Schafer - Secretary
Martha Schafer, secretary at the Rochester Chapel has been employed since 2004. she resides in Zumbrota and has four children. Her parents are Ruth and Paul Reppe. Paul is a retired Lutheran pastor and Ruth assists with answering phones and working visitations in Zumbrota.
