Alice Tackaberry, age 94 of Frontenac, MN died Monday, August 17, 2015 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park, Red Wing.
Born to Gustaf and Bridget Nelson of Red Wing and St. Paul on August 3, 1921. She went to St. Joseph's School and graduated from Red Wing Central High School and then Red Wing Teacher's Training and taught school in Belle Creek Township. Worked at Riedell Shoe for 17 years, Red Wing Shoe Co. for over 20 years and Mount Frontenac Golf Course for 9 years.
She married Wilbur (Roy) Tackaberry in 1947 who preceded her in death in 1984, along with one brother Walter Nelson of Red Wing, two sisters Margy Gonzales of St. Paul and Deloris Mann of Red Wing, and one nephew Gerald (Dubber) Mann.
Member of Minnesota Pheasant and Waterfowl Society for 16 years while operating the Pheasant Valley Game Farm in Frontenac, MN aiding in the preservation of exotic pheasants world-wide. Member of the Minnesota Pocahontas Club of Red Wing for over 40 years. Ran the Mount Frontenac (Ally's) Senior Golf Tournament for over 20 years. She was an avid bird watcher for over 60 years. She enjoyed accompanying her husband flying light air craft, playing golf, and cards.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Old Frontenac with Rev. Michael Schulenberg officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the church.
