Betty June Wipperling

June 30, 1934 — June 15, 2017

Betty June Wipperling, 82, of Red Wing, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Red Wing. She was born June 30, 1934 in Red Wing to Nicholas and Marie (Hynding) Peterson. She grew up in Diamond Bluff and attended a one room school house through the 8th grade. She then started working at Ted's Café where she met her husband, Harold Wipperling. The couple was united in marriage on September 12, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek. Together they made their home in Goodhue before moving to Red Wing in 1961. There Betty worked at Mary's Supper Club, the St. James and finally as a personal care assistant until retiring in 2013. She was a member of United Lutheran Church. Betty enjoyed cooking, a talent she freely shared with everyone. She also enjoyed word search puzzles.

She is survived by her husband Harold; children, Steven (Patricia) of Hastings, Deb (Bob) Schloegel of Rochester, Mark of St. Paul, Julie (Mike) Anway of Red Wing; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Betcher of Red Wing and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings; Raymond, Earl, Norman, Arnold, Roy, Warren Wayne and Alice Barnhart.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
