Bruce B. Stinson, 90, of Lake City passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born on September 29, 1926 to George and Sadie (Ahrens) Stinson.

Bruce graduated from South High in Minneapolis and went on to serve in the Army during WWII. While in the military he was trained to be a radio operator. After being discharged, he pursued additional training in this technology. He met Violet Hobelman in Kansas City while she was in nurses training and he was in radio school. Violet and Bruce married December 12, 1949 in Leesburg, FL where they lived for a short time. In 1950 they moved to Bloomington where he worked at Honeywell Inc. as a research technician for 30 years. In 1978 they moved to Lake City where they purchased a farm in rural Lake City. Bruce and his son Charles established the apple orchard which is currently known as Oak Ridge Orchard.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church and Lake City Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts and most of all spending time with his family. His lifelong love of apples is what inspired him to start his own apple orchard.
