Carol Ann Pirius

Carol Ann Pirius, 65, Red Wing, passed away at her home unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was born November 19, 1949 in Red Wing, the daughter of Clifford and Margery (Beckler) Pirius. She attended Red Wing Public Schools and graduated from Central High School 1n 1966. Carol participated in a number of high school activities including being a member of the cheerleading squad during grades 7 through 12th. She was the head majorette of the Red Wing High School Band, and she was a member of GAA and of the high school yearbook editorial staff. Carol was a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Red Wing Colvill Pool for several years during the summer months. She attended the University of Minnesota and received an A. A. degree in 1969. She resided in Minneapolis for much of her adult life and worked at the Frank B. Hall Insurance Agency as its office manager. In 2003 she returned to Red Wing and lovingly cared for her mother until her death in 2009. Carol was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and rarely, if ever, missed a televised game. She enjoyed the company of friends for shuffleboard and dinner gatherings and she did some traveling both in the U. S. and abroad with her brother.

Carol is survived by one brother, James of Alexandria, Virginia and several cousins in the Red Wing area. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held at Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall on Tuesday, September 2 from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service in the church with Father Michael Way officiating. A lunch will follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Donations to Red Wing Hospice or Christ Episcopal Church are preferred in lieu of flowers.
