Cheryl "Cherre" Kaye Pohl, 71, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born on October 10, 1946, in Red Wing to Clinton and Kaye (Hall) Henry. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1964 and from University Wisconsin - River Falls in 1968 with a degree in education. On June 28, 1970, she was united in marriage to Ed Pohl and they resided in Goodhue until 1992 when they moved to Red Wing. From 1969 to 2004 she taught English and Communications at Goodhue Public Schools. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling the world with her beloved husband. She was an animal lover and she and Ed rescued and adopted 19 cats over the years
Cherre is survived by her husband, Ed; her sister at heart, JoAnn and her husband Tom Bohmbach of Red Wing; one aunt, Gloria (Nybo) Hillman; one cousin, Kari Bennis of Red Wing and her four footed kids, Leo, Callie, Tabby and Rocki. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Goodhue County Humane Society.
