Clarence Edward Glander

October 20, 1932 — April 16, 2015

Clarence Edward Glander, 82, of Red Wing, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Lake City on October 20, 1932 to Edward and Anna (Reese) Glander. He was raised in Lake City and attended St. John's Parochial School in Lake City. He started working at Gould Machine Shop in 1951. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged. On February 8, 1958 he married Marilyn Hinrichs at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. In 1957 he went back to work at Gould, working there for a total of 27 years before moving on to work at Central Research for two years. After that, he worked for the Red Wing school district as a custodian for 14 years, retiring at the age of 66. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports, did a lot of woodworking, crossword puzzles, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served as the custodian there for 18 years. He also was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion, Post # 54.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Red Wing; three children, Susan (Loren) Schmidt of Red Wing, Darold (Julie) Glander of Red Wing, Diane (Pete) Kutschied of Longville, Minn.; grandchildren, Brady and Brandon Schmidt, Jessica (Adam) Bartlewski, Andrew and Matthew Glander and Tyler Kutschied; one great grandson, Brodie Bartlewski; one step grandchild, Ryan (Chelsea) Kutschied; step great grandchildren, Evan, Rowan and Kyen Kutschied; two brothers, Eugene (Cheryl) Glander and Marvin, Glander both of Lake City; one sister, Dorothy Mickelson of Lake City.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Alvin and Orlin Glander; two sisters, Phyllis Hoffman and Lorraine Springer and one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Schmidt.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Rev. Todd Engel officiating. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion, Post # 54. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church or donor's choice. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
