A memorial gathering for Daniel Douglas Syverson, age of 48, is planned for Saturday July 8, 2017 from 2-5 pm at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, 602 Plum Street, Red Wing, MN. Military honors will take place at 5 pm outside the funeral home.
Dan has been united with his Father David Syverson, his Mother Frances (Sroga) Syverson, Grandparents Stanley & Regina Sroga, Allen & Marian Berg and his Stepfather Roger (Clarence) Olson. Survived by his siblings: Tami Thompson, Michael Syverson, Christina (Chad) Harrell, Dana (Becca) Syverson, Catherine Syverson, Paul Syverson, James (Kim) Syverson and Teri Kay (Zach) Syverson, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews, sister/brother-in-laws, and many friends.
Dan's passing on July 4th, 2017 was due to a motorcycle accident in Wabasha County, MN.
Born in Wisconsin, on July 11, 1968, residing in Wisconsin for the first 11 years, and then living in Big Lake, MN through high school. Dan joined the Navy for 7 years, where he proudly served on the Iwo Jima LPH2, and the Naval Reserve for 3 years. After his honorable discharge Dan returned to Minnesota to be closer to family and friends. Upon his return he met the love of his life Dana Leonhardt and they married in 2001. Together they opened and operated D&D Homes, LLC. Dan was also the co-founder of DSJS, LLC dba Fat Rat Choppers and a Senior Project Manager at Vic's Crane and Heavy Hauling Inc.
Dan was always the "life of the party." He enjoyed traveling, motorcycling, and acting as host for gatherings and holiday celebrations, where he was known for his giant personality. He loved to meet new people and made new friends wherever he went, always leaving them with a smile and feeling better than they had before they met. He was a pillar of strength for his friends and family, touching lives with wisdom, support and unwavering love.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held after the memorial gathering, please join us at the Swanson's residence from 5:30-9:00 pm, 2465 Wildwood Ridge, Red Wing, MN. Dan will have a permanent memorial at Fort Snelling Cemetery, in St Paul, MN, this will be a private service. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
