Donald Eugene Dusbabek, 71, Red Wing, died at his home Friday, May 22, 2015 after a long illness. He was born April 4, 1944 in Waseca, Minnesota, to Elmer Charles and Lilla Elizabeth (Bailey) Dusbabek. He attended school in Waterville and graduated from high school in 1962. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. He married Peggy Ann Thielbar on July 22, 1972 in Kilkenny. He worked as a butcher at Nasbaums in Kilkenny 1972-1980 and then at All State Paving Company 1980 -1987. He moved to Red Wing in 1985 and worked at S. B. Foot Tanning Company 1987 - 2001. He also worked at Treasure Island part-time, then full time up until his death. He was a member of the Church of Saint Joseph and the VFW Post 2633 in Waterville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Peg; one daughter, Nichole (Buck) Strusz of Hager City, WI; two sons, Mark (Kelly) Dusbabek of Minneapolis and Gary (Pam) Dusbabek of Red Wing; seven grandchildren: Brittany, Emily, Katelyn and Jacob Strusz, Julia and Brynn Dusbabek, and Cora Dusbabek; two sisters: Theresa (Steve) Schlosser of Spokane, WA and Leona Dusbabek of Waterville, MN; one brother, Elroy Dusbabek of Spokane, WA; and brother-in-law, Gary Thielbar of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; eldest brother, Charles E. Dusbabek and two younger brothers, both KIA in Vietnam, Marines John R. Dusbabek and Glenn H. Dusbabek.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
