There will be no services, at his request, for Donald Allen Frederickson who passed away on Friday, January 26, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus, after a brief illness with pneumonia. Donald was born on March 12, 1937 in Blooming Prairie to Carl and Ruth (Ward) Frederickson and attended schools in Blooming Prairie, Elgin, and Rochester.
He worked in several capacities at the former Rochester State Hospital from 1956 until its closing in 1982. He was also employed at different times as a custodian at the North Star Bar, the Carlton and CJ's Lounges, the VFW post on 6th St., and the townships of Rochester and Cascade; as a van driver at the former Guest House for 20 years; and as a truck driver delivering products for Greenway and High Plains Coops and for D & R Star
Donald enjoyed camping with friends and family, hunting, fishing, smelting, snowmobiling, cooking, visiting in northern Minnesota, and socializing at happy hour.
On July 10, 1960 he married Darlene Spading at the Douglas United Methodist Church. They lived in Rochester and Chester MN before moving back to Rochester in 2011. Together they raised 2 sons, Floyd and Dan Frederickson of Oronoco, and 1 daughter, Sandra Gould of Grand Rapids MN.
Donald is survived by his wife and children; 2 grandchildren, Alex Gould of Anchorage AK and Hannah Gould of Jacobson MN; a sister, Carol (Leonard) Bronner of Cresco IA; a sister-in-law, Marcie Frederickson of River Falls WI; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
