Doris A. Dailey

April 11, 1926 — February 6, 2016

Doris A. Dailey, 89, of Red Wing, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Loving Residence. She was born April 11, 1926, in Hager City, Wisconsin, to John and Angie (Pflueger) Knudsen and attended country school there. As a young woman, she moved to California, where she met her husband, Robert Dailey. The two were married on June 25, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona and in 1948, they moved to Minnesota, where they made their home in Red Wing. She worked at the Vasa Children's Home, Burnett Cleaners, Red Wing Laundry and Busy Bee, before retiring in 1998. For many years, she and Robert enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Robert died in November of 1986. Doris was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she had volunteered in many capacities, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. She had a knack for gardening, especially flowers and she also enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, reading and spending time with her girlfriends and family.
She is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Lyle) Edstrom of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Daniel R. Dailey of Red Wing; Brenda (Dan) Hinrichs, Annette (William) Bergo and Douglas Dailey all of Hager City; 9 grandchildren, Thomas Edstrom, Elliot Baringer, Joseph Edstrom, Shane Anderson, Stacy Siefert, Stephanie Kirchner, Tiffany Gappa, Jean Hartman and Rebecca Bergo; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Roger (Myrt) Knudsen of Hager City; 2 sisters-in-law, Donna Knudsen of Billings, Mont. and Eleanor Knudsen of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert and 5 brothers, LeRoy, Russell, Roland, Kenneth and Donald "Gene" Knudsen.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Spring burial will be at Trenton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Red Wing Hospice.
