Dorothy Marcella Freier

Dorothy Marcella Freier, 100, of Red Wing, died Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Seminary Home. She was born March 9, 1914 to Nels and Elizabeth Martensen in Red Wing. She grew up and attended school in Red Wing, graduating from Red Wing Central High School. She went on to work for Bell Telephone for 27 years. In 1937 she married Donald Freier. They later divorced. Dorothy was a member of United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed embroidery, reading, walking, and doing crosswords. She loved her dogs and most of all; Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Lynda) Freier of Red Wing, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son Donald Francis Freier, three brothers, one sister, and her parents.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
