Edwin O. Stensland, age 83 of Wanamingo died on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Kenyon Sunset Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church - Aspelund with Pastor Martin Horn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Edwin Orrino Stensland was born June 16, 1932, on the family farm in rural Wanamingo to Ludvig and Gitta (Romo) Stensland. Edwin grew up on the farm and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1950. He was employed at Maple Island Dairy for many years and later took over the dairy farm operation from his father while continuing to work at Maple Island. Edwin farmed until his retirement. He worked at Hub Foods for a few years before totally retiring.
Edwin lived on the family farm in rural Wanamingo, MN, all but the last 2 years of his life, during which time he resided at Kenyon Senior Living. Enjoyed tending and taking care of flowers and had many flower beds on his farm. He enjoyed spending time on his riding lawnmower and taking care of his yard.
Everyone knew him as a gentle soul. He was known for his wonderful smile, a big heart, and his great expressions "Oh My!" and "I just don't know". He will be missed by many.
Edwin was a lifelong member of Aspelund Emmanuel Lutheran Church. His faith, Bible reading, and caring for Christian organizations were of utmost importance to him. He enjoyed music, played the piano and organ at home, and sang in the church choir. He now is resting in the arms of his Lord and singing with the angels in heaven.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Ludvig and Gitta.
Edwin is survived by several cousins.
