Eileen E. Berg age 92, of Rochester passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2014 at the Rochester Health Services East. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 - 7th Avenue SE, Rochester, MN with Pastor Adam Koglin officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eileen Ethel Damman was born on May 23, 1924 in Zumbrota, MN to Fred H. and Mathilda W. (nee Koenig) Damman. Eileen grew up in Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1942. Eileen started working in the office of Drips Wholesale Grocery in Rochester. On May 23, 1943 she was united in marriage to Alton S. Berg on her parent's farm in Poplar Grove. They made their home in Rochester and Eileen continued to work as a bookkeeper for Drips Wholesale Grocery for several years, before becoming a homemaker. Alton worked for Waters-Conley for many years and also at Ability Building Center.
Eileen enjoyed working with flowers and tending to the many flower gardens around her home, giving her the opportunity to visit with her neighbors, feeding and watching the birds, embroidering and being with her dogs.
Eileen was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Eileen is survived by her cousins, Ruth (Gary) Korpela of Shoreview, Lois (Don) Fry of Rochester and Warren "Bud" (Audrey) Folkert of Rochester; her godchildren, Pat (Tom) Krauter and Brad (Karia) Folkert and her beloved Beagle, Chico.
Eileen will be greatly missed by lifelong friends, Duane and Mary Ann Pagel as well as her neighbors, Jaime and Carla MacLean who cared for Eileen over the past few years.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Alton and her parents, Fred and Mathilda.
