Elizabeth Gernentz

Elizabeth Margaret Gernentz, 82, of Red Wing, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at her home at Deer Crest. She was born on April 10, 1932 in Red Wing to Dwight and Marguerite (Melander) Kinne. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1950 and on November 28, 1952 she married Bert Gernentz at First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing. For over 25 years she worked for Goodhue County social services. She was member of First Presbyterian Church, PEO Chapter P and Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and playing the violin.

Survivors include her husband, Bert; four children, Jane (Mark) Henning of Eden Prairie, Cari (Dom) Scordo of Lexington, Kentucky, Jon (Katie) Gernentz of Ellsworth, Wis. and Chris (Tracy) Gernentz of Edina; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dwight and one step-sister, Jane Kumler.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Reiter officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
