Eugene Dallas Roschen

Eugene Dallas Roschen, 72, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at his daughter's home. He was born on February 9, 1944, in Red Wing, to Dallas and Elaine (Schumann) Roschen. He attended school in Red Wing and graduated in 1962. He married Barbara Kuhfuss and together they had 2 daughters; they later divorced. Eugene farmed for many years in Featherstone Township until retiring in 1992. His second marriage was to Karin Daley and together they had 2 sons, later divorcing. He started working at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in 1993 as a grounds keeper, and worked there until his retirement on July 6, 2016.
Everyone knew Eugene for his baking and all his wonderful bars, cakes, breads-- you name it, he baked it! He enjoyed sports of all levels-- high school, college, and pro and was a true sports fanatic. He was also involved with Red Wing Youth Sports Associations for many years. As a farmer, he was a part of 4H, FFA, and Midland Co-op and in 1974 he was presented as the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. One of his other hobbies included bowling, which he did for many years. Overall, he most enjoyed spending time with his family.
Eugene is survived by his daughters, Patricia Roschen of Red Wing and Renae (Gerald) Quade of Red Wing; sons, Levi Roschen of Red Wing and Lucas (Kayla) Roschen of Goodhue; granddaughters, Kelsey Gilbertson and Sophia Roschen; sister-in-law, Jane Roschen of Red Wing; and sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Darrel Dammann of Tulsa, OK
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Paul Nystuen; brother, Robert Roschen and niece, Kristin Albers.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Ron Stehr officiating. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
