Florence Lillian Bremer, 85, of Red Wing, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System- Red Wing.
Florence was born on July 19, 1932, in Red Wing to Christ and Lillian (Nelson) Albers. She graduated from Goodhue High School in 1950, and began working at the switchboard at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She married Kenneth Bremer in 1952 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue. She later worked for 25 years at the Red Wing Health Care Center as a medication aid until her retirement. Florence was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, volunteering as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed participating in Girl Scout activities and volunteered with the Historical Society and at the Clothing Shelf. Florence enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and spending time with her family.
Florence is survived by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth, of Red Wing; daughters, Susan (Richard) Majerus of Bellechester, Sarah (David Huppert) Meyers of Bay City, WI, and Sandy Van Stone of Red Wing; son, James (Gabrielle) Bremer of Atlanta, GA; brother, Robert (Sue) Albers of Lake City; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Schmidt and Carol May; grandchildren, Melissa and Jason Majerus, Jillian Ryan, Chris and Jenny Meyers, Allison Huppert, Maggie Fossum, Becky Smythurst, Tristan Van Stone, Andrew Bremer, Breanna Hale, Max and Chloe Bremer; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eleanor Neeley and Lorraine Peterson and brother, Howard Albers.
A memorial service for Florence will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the Bodelson-Mahn Family Funeral Home in Red Wing with Pastor Regina Hassanally presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, rural Red Wing. Memorials requested to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
