Garry C. Froelich

September 9, 1927 — April 16, 2017

Garry Charles Froelich, age 89, of Zumbrota died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Though his body was frail and tired, his spirit was full of grateful appreciation to be able to draw another breath every second he was graced on earth. Garry is survived by his loving wife, Delores; five daughters, Gayle (Ernie) Gorman, Carol (Kevin) Dose, Janice Froelich, Barbara (Alan) Breuer and Laura (Jesse) Soleta. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Derek Breuer, Ladd (Laura) Gorman, Garry (Katlin Joersz) Przytarski, Ryan (John) Skappel, Andrew Dose, Natalie (Kyle) Ferguson, Autumn (Jeremy LeBrun) Dose, Kevin Gorman, Hodd (Emily Thurow) Gorman, Samantha and Sabrina Soleta; and six great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Elijah, Rylan, Cole and two on the way and his dog and best friend Harrison; sister, Corrine (Tom) Frank; sister-in-law, Claire Froelich and brother-in-law, Jon Darling.
Garry was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to William Carlton and Clara Froelich. During his childhood, his family lived in Manly, Iowa and St. Paul Park, Minnesota. Garry got to pursue his dream to be a farmer. He farmed in Afton and Deer Creek, Minnesota. Garry was a veteran of World War II, where he served as Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy. He worked for twenty years at 3M. His passions were farming, music (playing flute and piano), gardening, fishing, hunting, and enjoying a dish of ice cream. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Navy never left him, as friends and family will attest. Garry flew his American Flag every day of his life.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents, William (Carl) and Clara Froelich; son, baby boy Froelich; brother, Donald Froelich; sister, Connie Darling; nephew, Todd Froelich and niece, Lorelei Frank. He spent his last days on the farm cared for by the loving staff of Rehoboth Adult and Elderly Care.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Dr. Margaret Pleis-Sippola officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Growing up, Dad would sing to the Boone and Erickson WCCO Radio "Good Morning Song" and dance in the kitchen with his daughters. "It is a brand-new day, good morning to you."
