Gary William Schlichting, 64, of Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly, Sunday, May 22, 2016, at his home. He was born July, 20, 1951, in Red Wing, to Raymond and Shirley (Kask) Schlichting. He grew up in Diamond Bluff and attended school in Prescott, where he had been a state wrestling contender. He married Mary Reck in 1972. Together they had three children and later in life, he and Mary divorced. Gary worked as an over-the-road trucker for most of his life, most recently for Metro Gravel. He was married to his second wife, Eva Volk for a short time, before divorcing. On March 29, 2007, he married Dianna Starnes in Las Vegas, and the two enjoyed eight years of marriage before she passed away on April 9, 2015. Throughout Gary's life he enjoyed motorcycling and going on the Flood Runs, camping, playing pool, drag racing, fishing and his many canine companions.
He is survived by his children, Chad (Stephanie) Schlichting of Boerne, Texas and Melissa Schlichting of Lake City; 8 grandchildren, Sabrina, Taya, Jordan, Madelyn, Joey, Cameron, Morgan and Isabella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brent; his wife, Dianna and his first wife, Mary Purdy.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Mahn Family Funeral Home with Rev. John K. Hesford officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and for one hour prior to the service all at the funeral home.
