Gary Joseph Schwab

Gary Joseph Schwab, 69 of Red Wing, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Red Wing Health Community. Gary was born December 10, 1947 in Red Wing, to Jack and Evelyn (Redding) Schwab. He grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1965. He then began working at the SB Foot Tannery, where he worked until retiring in 2014. During that time, he enlisted in the National Guard. He also served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the UFCW Local 335 for 32 years and as Vice President for six. In 1969, he married JoAnn Klein and they later divorced. Gary was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Goodhue County Sheriff's Posse, the American Legion Leo C. Peterson #54, and the Red Men Club. Gary loved collecting Oliver tractors. He also enjoyed horses, dogs, camping with his old bus, going to Vegas, fishing and going to the cabin.
He is survived by his two sons, Jack (Jennifer) and Joseph (Kelly); grandchildren, Brittany, Cheyenne, Joelle, and Tanner; significant other, Jetty Hoeft and her son, Toby (Nicole); sister Linda Von Bargen; brother, David Schwab; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark; parents, Jack and Evelyn.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Robert Meyer presiding. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery and a reception will follow the service at the Leo C. Peterson American Legion. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
