Gloria Mae Hokanson

Gloria M. Hokanson, age 81, of Wanamingo, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home in rural Goodhue County, surrounded by her family. Memorial service will be Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Minneola Lutheran Church with Pastor Hannah Bergstrom de Leon officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Gloria Mae Sorensen was born on January 1, 1936 at home in Hartley, Iowa to Theodore and Lola (Quaintance) Sorensen. She attended schools in West Concord, Wanamingo and Medford. She graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis and opened her own beauty shop called Country Clip 'N Curl in her home in 1969 and practiced until 1986. She worked at Mid America in Zumbrota from 1986-1996. Gloria took over the management of the Home Plate Café, in Kenyon for her sister, Wanita Wilkie in 1996 and decided to retire in 1997.
Gloria was a life-long member of Minneola Lutheran Church and was President of the WELCA for many years. She also created and edited three cookbooks for Church & Family.
Gloria enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, baking and attending Bible Study. She spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved every moment.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul; three sons, Gregory (Lhonda) Hokanson of Dodge Center, Darin (Megan) Hokanson of Rochester and Boon Sorensen of Kenyon; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Theodore (Arlene) Sorensen, William (Linda) Sorensen both of Owatonna and Michael (Janet) Sorensen of Medford; three sisters, Wanita Wilkie of Medford, Deborah Ellis and Darla (John) Berg both of Claremont.
Gloria was preceded in death by her sister, La Jean Sorensen and her parents.
