Gloria Joanne Luhman age 69, of rural Goodhue died on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Seminary Home in Red Wing. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue with Pastor Justin Gosch officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Gloria Joanne Ellefson was born on June 18, 1946 in Rochester, MN to Lyle and Florence (nee Rich) Ellefson. Joanne grew up in Rochester and graduated from Byron High School. On February 11, 1967 she married Glenn Luhman in Rochester. They made their home on the Luhman Family Farm. Together they farmed until Joanne's health started to fail due to Multiple Sclerosis. Joanne enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, caring for her yard, baking and trying new recipes, painting ceramics, fishing and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Joanne was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Glenn; children, Ginger (Jack) Frederich of Verndale, Travis (Brenda) Luhman of Goodhue, Robin (Mark) Mechura of Rochester and Darin Luhman of Red Wing; grandchildren, Tanner and Spencer Mechura, Zachary, Lillian and Skyler Luhman; brother, Jerry (Christine) Ellefson of Oronoco and many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Lyle and Florence and step-mother, Evelyn Ellefson.
Memorials are preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. John's Lutheran Church.
