Gloria Rae Richter

Gloria Rae (Bang) Richter passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after a 6 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born April 11, 1949 in Red Wing to Raynold and Marcella (Strusz) Bang. She graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1967. After high school she attended Faribault Vo-Tech and earned her Nursing degree as an LPN. On April 18, 1970 she married Robert Richter at the Zumbrota United Lutheran Church. Gloria worked for many years as a nurse at the Zumbrota Hospital and later the clinic in Zumbrota having retired from there in 2014.
Gloria was a lifelong caregiver and dedicated her life to nurture and comfort those in need. She enjoyed going for rides around Lake Pepin to watch for eagles and stopping for ice cream along the way. Gloria loved spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid fisherman spending weekends at their camper on French Lake. She loved craft and garage sales and always eager to see what treasures were hiding at the next garage sale. Gloria was a member of the Goodhue Lioness Club and St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Gloria is survived by her husband Bob and three children; Jeff (Dawn) Richter of Piedmont, SC; Janet (Chad) Ryan of Goodhue; Jill (Dale) Hecht of Grove City, MN. Seven grandchildren, Jack and Sam Richter; Jed and Eli Ryan; Dallee, Georgia and Josie Hecht. Brothers Glenn (Vikki) Bang of Conroe, TX; Gene (Tracy) Bang of Kenyon, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Sunday August 6 from 4-8 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church.The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday August 7, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue, with the Rev. Regina Hassanally officiating. Burial will be at the Zumbrota Cemetery immediately following the service.
