Gordon Hinrichs Hinck

Gordon Hinrichs Hinck, 75, of Lake City passed away at home on Friday, August 4, 2017. He was born on January 13, 1942 to Henry and Elsa (Henn) Hinck in Lake City. Gordy attended Oak Center School. In 1960, he graduated from Lake City High School where he was active in numerous extra-curricular activities including band and basketball where he was the captain his senior year. After graduation, he attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis where he earned his degrees in radio broadcasting and engineering. On August 25, 1962, Gordy married Geraldine (Wilson) Hinck at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Gordy worked in radio for 46 years. His first five years of radio were spent in Iowa. In 1966, Gordy worked for KCUE radio of Red Wing, and then for the next 33 years worked for KDHL radio in Faribault where he became known as the "Mouth of the Mississippi". In 2001, he was Lake City's first announcer on Lake Hits 95 where he worked for eight years before retiring. Gordy had a great love for Lake City Tiger High School sports, broadcasting close to three thousand games. In 2007, Gordon was inducted into the Minnesota High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame for broadcasting and, just last year, into the Lake City High School's Hall of Fame. Gordy was a member of Lake City Lions Club for almost 40 years receiving the Melvin Jones Award, Lions International highest award. He was also a long time member of the Lake City Golf Course.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Geri of Lake City; son, David (Patricia) Hinck of Rochester; daughter, Jodi (Kevin) Barnett of Rochester; four grandchildren, Katelyn Barnett of Rochester, Benjamin Barnett of Rochester, Jackson Hinck of Rochester, and Ellen Hinck of Rochester; two sisters, Angela Dittfach of Rochester, Phyllis Krueger of Lake City; and one brother, Bernie Hinck of Woodbury, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Harris, Lewis, Herbert and Robert Hinck.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 08, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran in Lake City, MN with Reverend Daniel Reich officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to donors choice.
