Gordon Frank Pribyl

February 25, 1925 — February 11, 2013

Gordon Frank Pribyl, 87, Red Wing, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 11, 2013 at Seminary Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 25, 1925, in Montgomery, MN, the son of Frank and Mary (Holetz) Pribyl. He grew up and attended school in Montgomery, then served in the U. S. Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He attended the University of Minnesota and then Mankato State University where he received his Bachelors Degree. He married Mary Hendricks on February 22, 1955 in Mankato, MN. He began his teaching and coaching career in Eyota and Zumbrota. The family moved to Red Wing in 1967. He continued his education receiving his Masters degree from Winona State and finished his teaching career as a guidance counselor in the Red Wing School District. After retirement, he drove for Amdahl Motors. Throughout his life he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, spending time on the river and with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the Red Wing Yacht Club, the Red Wing Wildlife League and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post # 54. He especially enjoyed his afternoon drive to check out the river and the boathouses.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary; six children: Jan (Glenn) Busch of Eden Prairie, Barb (Dan) Riegelman and Jim Pribyl, all of Red Wing, Jerry (Nina) Pribyl, of Cannon Falls, David (Kelly) Pribyl and Don Pribyl, all of Frontenac; ten grandchildren: Annah Busch, Katie, Aaron and Abby Riegelman; Zak & Emma Pribyl, Brian Jensen, Ryan, Sydney and Tyler Pribyl; one step-great-grandson, Tristen Jensen; two siblings: Willard (Marcy) Pribyl of Montgomery, MN and Shirley Juni of Fort Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Church of Saint Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Red Wing Wildlife League.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Seminary Home for the care they provided for their loving husband and father.
