Howard Albers

Howard Christ Albers, 82, of Red Wing, formerly of Mazeppa, died Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Red Wing Health Care Community. He was born September 17, 1934, in Goodhue to Christ and Lillian (Nelson) Albers. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1952. He farmed on the family farm near Mazeppa and also owned and operated Albers Appliance Repair. He married Diane Culbert on July 12, 1997. He resided on the farm until 2013 when he moved to the Red Wing Health Care Community. The Albers family farm was 125 years old and Howard wrote a weekly column in the Messenger called "Down on the Farm". Other than farming, he enjoyed mowing his grass. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne; 2 sisters, Lorraine Peterson and Florence (Ken) Bremer both of Red Wing; 1 brother, Robert Albers of Lake City; nieces, nephews; 2 step-sons, Scott (Rebecca) Jensen of Red Wing and Richard (Tina) Jensen of Odessa, FL; 2 step-daughters, Renee (Paul) Anfinson of Northfield and Rhonda (Rume) Sanchez of Red Wing; 11 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Eleanor Neely and one step-son, Steve Jensen.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Martin Weigand officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
