Ione Hager

Ione Martha Hager, 81, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born on January 25, 1934, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Martin and Martha (Boettcher) Wiebusch. She graduated from Red Wing Central High in 1951. She married Keith Hager, of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin on June 14, 1953, at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Belvidere. The couple welcomed four children into their home. Her children remember her as a selfless, patient, loving mother who encouraged them to live a Godly life. Ione was a generous individual who enjoyed giving back, and sharing her love for the Lord. She was an active and dedicated member of St Paul's Lutheran Church volunteering and participating in the church council, Property Committee, Serve Team, restoration of lower level, was coordinator of Mary Martha Quilters since 2001 and was in charge of making and hanging worship banners and changing altar paraments. She also belonged to the River Valley Christian Women's Connection. Ione enjoyed spending time with her family, doing interior decorating and painting, restoring old furniture and doing craft work.
Ione is survived by her children Pamela (David) Lien, Kris (Sharon) Hager, Bob Hager, Tony Hager, all of Red Wing, Minnesota; grandchildren Lindsay Lamoreux of Red Wing, Emilie (Michael) Dammann of Woodbury, Samantha (Andrew) Bergeson of Cottage Grove, Chad Hager of Red Wing, Kelsey Hager of Red Wing and Nicholas Hager of Red Wing; great-grandchildren Kara Lamoreux, Abigail Lamoreux, Lucy Dammann, Jack Dammann, Bennett Dammann and Logan Bergeson and her brother Hugo Wiebusch and wife Gwen of Ridgefield,Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; two brothers, Paul and Donald Wiebusch; one sister, Phyllis (Kenneth) Schumann; nephew, Richard Wiebusch and niece, Kathleen Schumann.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with a reception to follow at the Red Wing Golf Club. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ione's life. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, March 30 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.
