Ivan Harmon, age 90, of Rochester, died Thursday May 10, 2018 at Golden Living Center East in Rochester, MN. Ivan Martin Harmon was born April 19, 1928 in the White Water Valley to Edward and Emma (Prowatchke) Harmon. He was raised in, and grew up on a farm in the White Water Valley area. On Oct. 11, 1954 he married Carol Willing in Lake City, MN. The couple lived in rural Mantorville and St. Charles. They moved to Rochester in 1958 and Ivan started his career driving a milk truck in rural Minnesota. Ivan also worked for a foundry in Lake City, up until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ivan enjoyed camping and fishing, and spending time with family on the farm. He was a loving grandfather of eight and a great grandfather of three. They considered him to be the funniest and kindest person in the world.
Survivor include his son Brian (Judy Bremer) Harmon of Rochester; daughter in law Gwen Harmon (Borgen) of Lanesboro; sister Vera Shones of Lake City; eight grandchildren Brooke, Brady, Becky, Blaine, Lance, Brynn (Harmon), Katie Marshall, and Timmy Stoick, and great grandchildren Arianna, Carson, and Luella. He was preceded in death by his wife who died Sept. 16, 2016, his parents, daughter Julie, son Randy, three sisters, and one brother.
A memorial service will be 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Nathaniel Schwartz officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service, and reception will be held following the service at the church.
