James Lester Rietmann, 72, of Red Wing, died Monday, April 25, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 7, 1944, in Red Wing, to Roger and Bernice (Dahling) Rietmann and graduated from high school in Goodhue. On Sept. 26, 1964, he was united in marriage to Barbara Nelson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. For over 40 years, he was employed at the Red Wing Shoe Company. Jim enjoyed gardening, painting, making things and tinkering in the garage and staying busy outside.
He is survived by his wife, Barb, of Red Wing; 4 children, Jody Wendt of Wabasha, Brenda (Greg) Brantner of Hager City, WI and Scott (Stephanie) and Heidi (Ross) Rietmann both of Red Wing; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings, Jerry (Betty), Gene (Jane) & Bev Rietmann, Barb (Kevin) Hadler, Perry (Sonya) Jaeger and Diane (Kevin) Johnson and 7 step-siblings, Darrel (Julie) Jaeger, Carole (Darrell) Steffenhagen, Kathie (Dave) Whynaucht, John (Betty) Jaeger, Rose (Steve) Peterson, Dave (Ronnie) Jaeger and Janice Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Rietmann and Bernice Dahling Jaeger and Babe Rietmann and Harold Jaeger.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson Mahn Chapel with Rev. Kelley Adelsman officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
