Janet M. Yotter

March 29, 1930 — January 15, 2017

Janet Marilyn Yotter, 86, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at The Bluffs in Lake City.

She was born on March 29, 1930 in rural Lake City. Janet was the eighth of 12 children born to George and Alice (Gerken) Dose. She attended Whelan Country School through the eighth grade eventually becoming a nurse's aide at the Lake City Hospital.

On June 21, 1953, she married Armond Yotter at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Together they farmed and raised their four children on the family dairy farm.

Janet enjoyed walks in the woods, searching for wildflowers and picnic lunches at the old stone bridge with the grandchildren.

In retirement, Janet volunteered for the Roots to Wings Learning Center at St. John's School and enjoyed being part of the Know Your Neighbor Birthday Club.

Faith, family, and friends were at the center of Janet's life. She will be forever remembered for her generous and compassionate heart.

Janet is survived by her children: Mary (Ron) Passe of Wabasha, Mark (Rita) Yotter of Lake City, Brad (Linda) Yotter of Menomonie, WI, and Janet (Bruce Fuller) Yotter of Winona.

Seven grandchildren complete the immediate family: Cheryl (Jason) Holland, Ryan (Maranda) Passe, Emily (Justin) Wallerich, Michelle Yotter, Brian (fiancée Ashly Peters) Yotter, Adam Yotter and Sarah Yotter, and great grandchildren Madelyn and Paige Wallerich, Trinity Peters and baby girl Holland.

Survivors also include brothers: Leonard (Marlene) Dose and Charles (Joyce) Dose, sister-in-law Marlys Dose and brother-in-law Willard Holst, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Armond Yotter, seven brothers, Dwain, Henry, George, Fritz, Jess, James and Lee Dose, and sisters Marge Holst and Jean Turner.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, January 20th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Daniel Reich officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
