Jeanne Ann Acker

July 25, 1944 — December 1, 2017

Jeanne A. Acker, age 73, of Pine Island, passed away peacefully on December 1st at the Arbor Terrace memory care facility in Rochester, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rochester with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. The visitation will be on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and for one hour on Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
Jeanne Ann Barbian was born on July 25th, 1944 in Waunakee, Wisconsin to Peter and Priscilla Barbian. She married Vernon Acker on November 28, 1964, they divorced in 1978. Jeanne worked several years at Pine Island Public Schools, and then for 22 years as the librarian at the Van Horn Public Library in Pine Island.
Jeanne was an active member at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island, serving as a past president of its Council of Catholic Women and was an active circle member. She also served on the Pine Haven Care Center board.
Most of all, Jeanne was an amazingly loving mom and grandma. She took great pride in her family, spoke of them often, and attended almost every event they participated in. Jeanne also shared her love of reading with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling around the country to visit her siblings, bowling in leagues in Pine Island, and gathering with her close-knit group of Pine Island friends for conversation and birthday celebrations.
Survivors include her children, Randal (Tammy) Acker of Kasson, Warren (Nancy) Acker of Oronoco, and Krista (John) Ostrand of Mahtomedi; grandchildren, Brittany Acker and fiancé Mike Sorg, Christopher Acker and fiancé Autumn Ehlke, Nicole Acker, Stephanie (Lucas) Niebur, Jessica Acker, Mitchel Acker, Emily Ostrand, and Natalie Ostrand; great-grandchildren, John Niebur and Braden Sorg; siblings, Donna (Fred) Baines, Elaine (Wayne) Van Ess, Paul (Christie) Barbian, Art (Marge) Barbian, and Ellen (Bill) Sinclair.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Todd; her mother and father; and sister-in-law, Joan Barbian.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to be made in Jeanne's name to the Van Horn Public Library in Pine Island, Minnesota.
