Jerome August Jansen

May 15, 1921 — September 24, 2016

Jerome August Jansen, age 95 of Lake City, formerly of Onamia, Minnesota passed away Saturday, September 24 at The Bluffs Assisted Living. He was born on May 15, 1921 in Stearns County, Minnesota to Barney and Blanche (Brinkman) Jansen. He joined the Civil Conservation Corp at the age of 17. He then served in the US Army for four years stationed in Italy and Africa. He worked in real estate for 20 years. Jerry had a stamp collection of British owned countries (former and present). It was a treasured past time for him. He enjoyed people, and his good nature will be missed by many.

Jerome is survived by his wife Lois M. Jansen; his step-children, James Johnson, Steven (Adrienne) Johnson, Karen (Rick) Flynn, Nancy (Michael) Dent and Bruce (Irene) Johnson; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother Bernard (Kathryn) Jansen; one sister Florence Mordorski and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Ingrid and one sister, Mildred Niergarten.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
