Jill Loveday, age 78, of Kasson, MN died Saturday May 27, 2017 at the Field Crest Health Care Center in Hayfield, MN where she had resided for the past year.
Jill Elizabeth Haavisto was born Jan. 1, 1939 in Britt, MN to Joseph and Hilda (Koski) Haavisto. She was raised in Britt and graduated from high school in Embarrass, MN. Jill joined the U.S. Army and served in the Medical Corps for three years. During her service she met her husband Paul Loveday who was also serving in the Army. They were married on July 26, 1964 in Bessemer, MI. Jill completed her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. She worked as an LPN at Rochester Healthcare Center for eight years, retiring due to ill health. Jill was an avid woodcarver who enjoyed carving animals and birds, she was a member of the Rochester Wood Carvers Club. Jill loved animals especially cats, dogs, and horses.
Survivors include her husband Paul, of Kasson; her daughter Melissa Ann (Richard Harrison) Loveday of Eagan, MN; her son Billy Wayne Loveday of Mantorville, MN; grandchildren Cody Paul Loveday, Dakota J. Walters, Daewson Ty Walters, and Deziray Jaide Walters, and her sister Marjorie Bonham of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday June 2, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Rev. Cameron Baker of the Community Celebration Church of Kasson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, and one hour before the service Friday at the Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester at 3:00 p.m. Friday with Military Honors by the Kasson American Legion Post #333.
