Joseph William Suchomel, Jr., age 83, of Rochester, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 31, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Born to Joseph and Rosalie (Mickus) Suchomel on August 15, 1933, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, he followed family to Minnesota at age 23 in 1956. His career trail started with the railroad in Canada but his underlying passion was hockey early on. He played hockey with the Rochester Mustangs and the Colts. He eventually met Aleda Kern, his wife, with whom he had his two daughters Becky and Alice. He owned several bars through the years, ending his working life as a custodian for the Rochester school system. He especially enjoyed time with his family at his lake cabin in Wisconsin. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Aleda of Rochester; two daughters Becky (Joe) Tlougan of Rochester; and Alice (Matt) Suchomel-Olson of Lakeville; his grandchildren Joey Pagayoya, Jason Tlougan, Max Olson, Marlo Olson, and Maren Olson; his surviving sisters Jeanette Binda of Moose Jaw, Canada; and Roli Stacy of Urbandale, IA.
