Joy Youmans

Joy Youmans, 74, of Red Wing, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on December 15, 1942 in Red Wing, to Herman and Vivian (Lunde) Kinneman. She grew up on a farm in Pierce County and graduated from Ellsworth High School. On June 24, 1961, she married Kenneth Youmans in Diamond Bluff and they lived in Red Wing. Joy worked at Smead, Koehler's Book Store and JC Penny's where she retired from after 25 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, The Silvertone's singing group, and Good Sam Camping Club when her children were younger. She enjoyed music and playing the piano, going for walks, playing cards, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends-Joy was always on the go.
She is survived by her three children, Rick (Cheryl) Youmans of Red Wing, David (Cindy) Youmans of Red Wing and Lynn (Mike) Jonas of Goodhue; nine grandchildren, Alicia, Amanda, Jared (Kendra Jenson), Jordan (Helen Pyle) Youmans, Katie Enevold (Brady Fiedler), Abby, Jesse, James and Wilson Jonas; one great-grandchild, Brantley Fiedler; five siblings, Lila Hobbs, Harlan (Carolyn) Kinneman, Laverle Marcus, Clarisse (Gene) Beckler, and Joanne Christiansen; and her dear friends, part of the "four musketeers" Delight and Mark Oberg, Jackie and Jim Luetke and Nancy Watling. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; her parents; a brother, Cleland Kinneman; brother in laws Ernie Hobbs, Bill Marcus, and Donnie Christiansen and a sister-in-law, Karen Lunde.
Funeral service will be Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home- Bodelson Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
