Kenneth Narvesen

A memorial service for The Rev. Kenneth Narvesen will be held Wednesday March 28th at 11:00 AM at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Rochester. The Rev. Mark Nienow will officiate. Everyone is invited to remain after the service for a time of visitation and fellowship. Rev. Narvesen, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter in Rochester on Friday March 23rd. He was 67.

Kenneth Robert Narvesen was born February 12, 1951 in Staten Island, New York, the son of Robert and Eva (nee Jensen) Narvesen. Ken graduated from high school at The Gilbert School in Winsted, Connecticut in 1969, from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana in 1973, and from Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls, Minnesota in 1976. On June 7, 1975 he married Jayne Kruizenga at the Virgie Christian Church in Virgie, Indiana. He served as a Pastor in the Church of the Lutheran Brethren from 1975 until 2012, and served congregations in Duluth MN and Superior WI (two point parish), Nanuet NY, Tempe AZ, DeWitt IA, and Cranston RI. After leaving Cranston he moved to Rochester, Minnesota for medical care. In 2014, Ken and Jayne moved to Cape Coral, Florida where he enjoyed retirement while also serving as an associate Pastor. He also served on the CLB Synodical Council, and home mission board. For Ken "Lehre er liv" (Norwegian for doctrine [theology] is life) and he loved to proclaim God's law and gospel to all. In his free time he enjoyed being bestefar (grandpa) and spending time with family, cooking, world travel, fishing, golf, and reading.

He is survived by his wife Jayne Narvesen of Cape Coral, Florida; a son Peter Narvesen of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; two daughters, Krista (Mychal) Hexum of Fergus Falls, and Kimberly (Ole) Olson of Rochester; grandchildren, Gideon, Stella, and Evelyn Olson, and George and Ellie Hexum. Also surviving are his brothers, Roy Narvesen of Granby, Connecticut, Ed (Claire) Narvesen of East Hartland, Connecticut, Jim (Becky) Narvesen of Eagan, Minnesota; and a sister Judy Narvesen of East Hartland, Connecticut; as well his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
