Kenneth Melroy Sandberg

Kenneth Melroy Sandberg, 80, of Red Wing died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born on July 1, 1934 in Red Wing to Leo and Vellita (Stull) Sandberg. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1953. Ken was united in marriage to Elsie Cook in 1956; they later divorced. In 1963 he married Sandra Stemmann. He worked at various businesses in the Red Wing area throughout his career. Ken was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, making jewelry, and crocheting.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sandra; three daughters, Lisa Sandberg Mendes of Carver, Becky (Darryl Anderson) Sandberg of Maplewood, and Vicky (Ron) Kimmen of Red Wing; eight grandchildren, Ashley Sandberg, Alexandria Sandberg, Harley Anderson, Jennifer Cook, Kimberly (Nate) Odman, Amber (Rick) Strait, Benjamin Cook, and Ethan Cook; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Jaxson Lane, Jaiden, Garrett, Caleb, Jackson, and Sophie; and brother, Gordon (Joyce) Sandberg of Arkansas and a special family friend, Yvette (Pete) Quist of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his son, Clifford; parents; and a sister, Lola Nielsen.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at the chapel at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park with Reverend Peter Sternberg officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
