Lars E. Haugrose

July 22, 1926 — February 17, 2017

Lars Elling Haugrose, 90, of Red Wing, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Crispin Living Community - Seminary Home. He was born July 22, 1926 in Ellsworth, Wisc. to Melvin and Alma (Place) Haugrose. He graduated from Ellsworth High School. Twice he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1953. He worked at the Red Wing City Hospital and St. John's Hospital as an orderly until his retirement. He married Bernice Paasch on June 20, 1987 at First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling and reading. He also enjoyed music and loved to dance and to sing-having sang in his church choir and other local choirs. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, the Golden K's and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion # 54.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; two step-children, Carol Merckling of Lake City and Bruce (Nancy) Paasch of Red Wing; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Carlstrom and a cousin, Shirley Haugrose.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., February 22, 2017 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Arthur Sharot officiating. Burial will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Beldenville, Wisc. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
