Laura "Laurie" M. Glander, age 59, of Oak Center passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at The Bluffs of Lake City. She was born on April 27, 1956, in Lake City, to Frederick "Fritz" and Alice (Kehren) Sprick and graduated from high school there. She worked at the Galley, sold Avon and Tupperware and had her own day care that she ran for many years. On November 28, 1981, she was united in marriage to Gary Glander and they lived in Oak Center. She and Gary were foster parents to many children throughout the years. She was lovingly known as "Mama G" by many and was well liked. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flower beds and sewing.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Gary Glander of Oak Center; sons, Brian (Cheri) Glander of Lake City, Cory Glander of Dubuque, IA, Todd Glander of Apple Valley and Micah Blackwood of Lake City; grandchildren, Mitchell (Lydia), Matt and Samantha Blattner; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Destiny; parents, Fritz and Alice Sprick of Lake City; 3 brothers, Thomas, Charlie and Joe Sprick all of Lake City and a sister, Doralee Sprick of Ft. Worth, TX.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Lorraine Glander.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Lake City, MN with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
