LaVonne Stolen Johnson, 92, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at Sunrise Senior Living Home in Minnetonka. She was born November 30, 1922, in Armstrong, Iowa, to Reverend Ernest and Myrtle (Monson) Stolen. She graduated from high school in Racine, Wisconsin and went on to receive her bachelor's degree in economics and history from St. Olaf College in 1944. She was united in marriage to Owen Johnson on Sept. 5, 1946. They lived several places throughout their life including Stoughton and Portage, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska; Park Forest, Illinois; Livonia, Michigan; Charlottesville, Virginia and Cherry Hill, New Jersey before moving to Red Wing in 1978. LaVonne had worked for Maas Realty in Red Wing as a real estate agent. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, Red Wing Hospital Auxiliary and had served on its board, Women's Study Club, Ruth Circle and Sons of Norway. She and Owen enjoyed traveling. He died February 19, 2005.
She is survived by three children, Randy (Joanne) Johnson and Julie (John) Hoffman both of New Jersey and Chris (Eric) Anderson of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Jacquie (Andy) Arana, Valerie (Kevin) Duckett, Carolyn Johnson, Jonathan (Jess) Hoffman, Jennifer (Sean) Beck, Ari Anderson (Rachel Wells) and Ellis Anderson; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris Gravrock of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
