ROCHESTER - Lois Frank, age 89, of Rochester, died Thursday (Apr. 17, 2014) at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth. Lois Helen Bernd was born Aug. 14, 1924 in New Richmond, WI, where she was raised and graduated from high school. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls with a degree in English. She was teaching English at the Rasmussen School of Business in St. Paul where she met her husband. Lois was married to Floyd W. Frank on Oct. 14, 1950 in New Richmond. The couple lived in St. Paul for more than 30 years, St. Louis, MO, for 5 years, and in Woodbury, MN. The couple moved to Rochester in 2000. Lois was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, and a member of P.E.O. She enjoyed music, books on tape, spending time at the lake, and her family.
Survivors include her son, William (Carrie) of Rochester; two grandsons, Brian (Pamela) of Rochester; and Curtis (Eve) of Minneapolis; two great grandchildren, Chester Wesley, and Phoebe Karen; and her brother, James (JoAnn) Bernd of Waupaca, WI. She was preceded in death by her daughter Janet, and her husband, Floyd who died Oct. 21, 2005.
The memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Pastor Jean Boese, Chaplain at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth, officiating. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, and a reception will be held following the memorial service. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN.
Memorials are suggested to Friendship Ventures in Annandale, MN, or Koronis Ministries (formerly Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds) in Paynesville, MN. We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the caregivers at Arbor Terrace and Samaritan Bethany on Eighth, especially Kassi and Max, who took such good care of Mom while she lived there. You were truly a blessing to us.
