Lois Myrtle Scharpen
November 2, 1949 — January 27, 2018
Lois Myrtle Perry was born on November 2, 1949, in Red Wing, MN to Victor and Myrtle (Manthei) Perry. She grew up on her parents' family farm just outside Zumbrota then graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1967 and Winona Technical in 1969. She married Myron Scharpen on September 26, 1970 at Christ Lutheran Church.
Lois spent many years working on the family farm and as a homemaker. Later, she worked at the Zumbrota Vet Clinic and most recently at Hub Foods. She was also the treasurer of Minneola Township. She was active with the Homemakers and Ladies Aid of St. John's Lutheran Church, Minneola Township.
Lois enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, playing games, cards and spending time with her family.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, Myron Scharpen; three children, Christine (Jim) Anderson, Lori (Craig) Byersdorfer, and Michael (Teri) Scharpen; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Reese, and Eric Anderson, Andrew and Dylan Byersdorfer, and Mikayla, Evan, and Jacob Scharpen; one sister, Nancy (Tom) McNamara, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Myrtle Perry; one infant sister; two sisters-in-law, Verna Lifto and Barbara Scharpen; and brother-in-law, Milo Scharpen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Christ Lutheran School, St. John's Lutheran Church or donors choice.
