Lorraine Mildred Huppert

June 23, 1928 — March 28, 2013

Lorraine Mildred Huppert, 84 of Red Wing, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Deer Crest. She was born June 23, 1928 in Goodhue Township, Minnesota to Clarence and Emma (Dammann) Duden. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1946 and then attended St. John's Hospital Nursing Training program where she became an LPN. On October 5, 1949, she married Alex Huppert at the family farm. The couple owned and lived at the Skyline Ballroom in Red Wing and sold the ballroom in the early 60's. She worked nights at St. John's Hospital for 25 years retiring in December of 1995. Lorraine was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, ceramics, needle point, antiquing, traveling, canning, watching the Twins, Timberwolves and Vikings, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Lorraine is fondly remembered by her family as a kind and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who gave abundantly of her time.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Alex of 63 years; children, Ronald (Jill) Huppert of Red Wing, Sharon Lorraine (Peter Helgeson) of Hudson, WI, Robert (Kathryn Roberts) Huppert of Wasilla, AK, Sheryl (Chuck) Paton of Red Wing, Roger (Carrie) Huppert of Scottsdale, AZ, Richard (Sharon) Huppert, Sheila (Michael) Goering, and Rodney (Gina) Huppert all of Red Wing; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Sonaglia of Sartell and Arlene Benson of Cannon Falls; and one brother, Duane (Jackie) Duden of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by one infant son, John Huppert and her parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Reverend David Baker officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association, Parkinson's Foundation, or Red Wing Hospice.
