Margaret Curtin

February 26, 1919 — April 23, 2017

Margaret Ruth Larson Curtin, 98, of Lake City passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Lake City Care Center. She was born in Rochester, MN to Albert and Alma Larson on February 26, 1919.
Margaret attended public schools in Rochester and is where she lived all of her life. On September 1, 1936, Margaret married William Curtin in Cresco, Iowa. During WW II, when her husband was in the Navy and stationed overseas, she worked a variety of jobs in the food industry and worked for the Rochester Country Club. After the war, she continued her employment at various doctors' homes including Drs. Mayo at Mayowood and the Rochester Country Club. Later she took work at the Galaxy Motel and the Holiday Inn South. Margaret also did volunteer work for the Girls Scout Association. She attended Rochester Zumbro Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Hannah Circle and sang with the choir. In her later years, she belonged to the Senior Citizen Center and sang with the Young at Hearts group. A very special moment for Margaret was on her 90th Birthday party. Les Fields and The Turkey River All-stars played for her party. Margaret enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband, camping, gardening, traveling and being with her family.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Billie Hunt of Lake City, Connie Danielson of Rochester; four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Dewaine) Silker; and brother, Arnold (Bonnie) Larson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Curtin; daughter, Sharon Gray; sister, Bernice Olson; and her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at the Gary Feigal Memorial Chapel at the Lake City Care Center with the Rev. Duane Holst officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Friends may call one hour before the service at the Care Center. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson - Peterson Chapel Lake City is handling the services.
