Marie Adeline Gilles, 72, of Welch, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Red Wing, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born January 2, 1941, in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, to Robert and Evelyn (Nimmeo) Stelter. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Gilles on June 26, 1959. For 28 years she was employed at Red Wing Shoe, retiring in 2002. Marie enjoyed going to the lake cabin in Northern Minnesota.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Welch; a sister, Laverl Huppert of Hager City; son, Donald (Karla) Gilles of Great Falls, MT; daughter, Bonny (Randy) Krenzke of Mazeppa; 4 grandchildren, Kristopher and Kyle Gilles and Jessie and Jennifer Pahl; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Albert, Lloyd and Ronnie Stelter.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Berthold officiating. Visitation will be from 4p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
