Marilyn Geraldine Lecy, 84, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017. She was born on September 29, 1933, to Gilbert and Alida (Solheim) Kaste in Fertile, MN, where she grew up and graduated from Fertile High School. She went on to earn a teaching degree at Moorhead Teacher's College and taught 4th grade in Crookston, MN for 4 years. She married Sanford Lecy in 1952, and they lived in Grand Forks, ND while he earned his teaching degree. They lived in Hendricks, MN for 6 years until moving to Red Wing in 1965. Marilyn worked as a remedial reading teacher, a homebound teacher, and a substitute teacher until earning a social work degree and a position with Goodhue County Social Services until retiring in 1995. Marilyn was an active member of United Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, Hallinglag of America, and local Boy and Girl Scout organizations.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Alida Kaste; husband Sanford; brother Alton Kaste; brother-in-law and sister Henry and Mernie Gredvig; and her granddaughter's husband Christopher Titchenal. Marilyn is survived by children Kim (Curt) Brosdahl of Moorhead, Eric Lecy (Millie Northcott) of St. Paul, and Maren (Al) Ogdie of New Brighton. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Evan Lecy of St. Paul and Alida Titchenal of Winter Springs, FL; one great-grandchild Anna Titchenal; niece Karen (Doug) Boyum of Edina; and sister-in-law Gayle Kaste of Northport, WA.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Her family extends a special thank you to the loving caregivers at The Arbor/Eagle Crest in Roseville, MN who cared for her through the end of her battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
