Marilyn Nola Stanchfield

August 23, 1937 — October 4, 2017

Marilyn Stanchfield, age 80, of Rochester, died Wednesday Oct. 4, 2017 at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester. Marilyn Nola Stoyke was born Aug. 23, 1937 in Stewartville, MN. She was a member of the first class in Stewartville Public Schools to attend Kindergarten and graduate from Stewartville High School in 1955. After graduation, she married Richard Stanchfield, they were later divorced. Marilyn graduated from the Methodist - Kahler School of Nursing in 1958 with her Registered Nurse degree. She was employed at Rochester Methodist Hospital as an RN, later becoming a Head Nurse, and Night Supervisor. She greatly enjoyed mentoring and teaching Student Nurses until she retired in 1995.

After retirement, Marilyn became an avid community volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House, Hope Lodge, and the American Cancer Society where she worked with the Reach to Recovery Program, visiting with cancer patients. She was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church. Marilyn spent countless hours sewing and mall walking with friends.

Survivors include her son Mark (Renee) Stanchfield; and her daughter Lori Cherry, both of Rochester; five grandchildren Sara (Kirk) McCamish, Scott (Samantha) Stanchfield, Schad Stanchfield, Nicole (Jeremy) Wiebusch, and Jessica Cherry, and five great grandchildren Carson and Peyton Stanchfield, Lexi and Levi Wiebusch, and Madison Cherry. Her mother Eva Stoyke, preceded her in death.
