Marlis Mae Agenter

Marlis Mae (Martens) Agenter went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27th, 2014.
She was born to Lawrence Martens and Anna (Hedeman) Martens at the family home in Goodhue County on May 19, 1925.
She attended Spring Primary and Roberts Country School in Goodhue County through the seventh grade. Marlis completed eighth grade in rural country school in Milaca, MN and graduated from Milaca High School in 1943.
She was always fond of country music, art, and sewing - she was an accomplished seamstress.
After graduating from high school she attended Princeton Teacher's training and graduated in 1944. Marlis taught in rural schools; Wabasha, Goodhue, Olmstead, and Dodge counties, teaching all eight grades.
She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a Master's Degree from St. Cloud University in school counseling. She taught first grade at Skyline and Hawthorne Schools in Rochester, MN for 39 years.
Marlis met Arbye Agenter in Milaca, MN and married three years later in the Belvidere Church on June 17, 1947. (The same church her parents were married in.) They made their home in Kenyon, MN until they retired in 1985 and moved to their home in Lake City where they both remained until their deaths. They were married 51 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arbye. She is survived by her two sisters, Marilee Hinck and Phyllis Hinck, both of Lake City, and one sister-in-law, Donna Agenter and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson Peterson Chapel in Lake City with Terri Bridgewater officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson Peterson Chapel.
