Marvin J. Tri, age 86 of Zumbrota passed away on November 2, 2017 at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester. The funeral service will be on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue with Pastor Martin Weigand officiating. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Sunday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marvin Joseph Tri was born on July 25, 1931 on the family farm in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue Co., MN to Joseph and Rose (Hadler) Tri. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. Marvin dairy farmed with his parents. On June 14, 1954 he married Barbara J. Romness at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo.
They made their home on the Tri Family Farm in rural Mazeppa. Marvin continued to farm until 1993, when they moved into Zumbrota. Besides farming, Marvin worked at Webster Livestock Auction. He enjoyed the comradery at the sales barn with the Websters, the other employees and farmers.
Marvin loved to gar den; he had numerous hanging baskets and window boxes. He loved going to the greenhouse nearly every weekend. Marvin was a lifelong fisherman and an active wood craftsman in his retirement. He also enjoyed visiting with family and neighbors.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Barbara (Romness) Tri; children, Darwyn (Mary) Tri, Laurie (John) Hoernemann, Julie (Arn) Tri, Diane (Steve Wernecke) Robertson, Carolyn Siem and Duane (Cindy) Tri; grandchildren, Linnea (Darin) Raasch, Alicia (Trent) Senenfelder, Katie, Kristen and Adam (Deanna) Hoernemann, Cailla and Cassie Tri, Brent Robertson, Calvin (Sabrina) and Cameron Befort, Michael (Danielle) Paulson, Alisha, Nicole and Ciara Ryan; great-grandchildren, Taite, Tyler and Lauren Raasch, Griffin, Jereko and Raven Senenfelder, Athena Hoernemann, Mea and Owen Robertson, Michael Paulson Jr., Isabella Paulson and Lilliana Ryan.
Marvin was preceded in death by twin infant brothers his parents, Rose and Joseph Tri; grandson, Derek Tri; and son-in-law, Wayne Siem.
