Mary Lou Thorie, 87, of Red Wing, died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, Wisconsin. She was born on June 16, 1929 in Red Wing to Harold and Ostrid (Palm) Hutchson. She attended schools on Trenton Island. On September 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Jennings "Harp" Thorie. They lived on Trenton Island prior to moving to Red Wing 1994. For 17 years she worked at Riedell Shoes, retiring in 1984. For many years they wintered in Texas. Harp died on April 11, 2006. For the past three years she has resided at the Comforts of Home in Menomonie. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. She enjoyed being by the water, whether it was on the banks of the Mississippi River or at the cabin on the Chippewa River near Holcombe, Wisconsin.
Survivors include two sons, William (Luba) Thorie of Hudson, Wis. and Kevin (Elizabeth) Thorie of Boyceville Wis.; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Donald.
Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
